Santa Monica, CA – Score! Media Ventures announced today that it has signed a deal with
50,000 watt KLAA 830 AM in Anaheim to develop and air “TKO Powered by SMV,” a sports talk show covering the fight game. The hour-long show will air monthly on Saturdays with its primary time slot immediately following the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim broadcast. TKO will be hosted by Dennis Bernstein, Chairman/CEO of SCORE! Media Ventures with the premiere broadcast scheduled to air July 19 at 10PM PDT.

“We couldn’t have picked a better broadcast partner than KLAA 830AM, they have a booming signal that carries from Los Angeles to the Mexican border. Most shows will have a terrific lead-in from the broadcast of the American League West Champions Angels, so TKO is set up for success. SMV plans to grow this project as 830AM further develops its sports content and we’re excited to do business with Angels’ owner Arte Moreno, who owns controlling interest in the station,” stated Bernstein from SMV’s Santa Monica offices.

Regarding the show’s content and format, Dennis conveyed, “At present, there’s only one option for fight fans on terrestrial radio in Southern California; that offering has no MMA content, this is a second and better option. With the massive impact that UFC has on the fight game, the appearance of Elite XC on network television and Affliction trying to become a player in both disciplines, you have to include MMA to truly be considered a fight show. While the two audiences are very different, our offering will generate currency with both demographics in addition to having a 21st century feel to it. We’ll have passionate but smart discussions about the fight game; it will be a show without rival in the Southern California market.”

“I’ve covered a great deal of championship bouts both in boxing and MMA over the past six years. SMV’s contacts are wide and deep in the fight game and these relationships will allow us to bring the biggest names in the game to our microphones. Major market, major station, major time slot should add up to gold,” SMV’s head man concluded. Bernstein will anchor the show and plans to select a number of recurring co-hosts well as announcing a full schedule for the balance of the calendar year within the next week.
