Planet
Hollywood Rocks
From Paris Hilton to Mike Tyson, Planet Hollywood lived up to its name in both stars & drama. The WBO Light Welterweight title scrap crammed more action into 1 minute than we have seen in quite some time.
In a rematch of a highly controversial tussle, Ricardo Torres & Kendall Holt went at it again, and this one lived up to all the hype. After going down twice in about 30 seconds Holt regained his composure and in a stunning turnaround he blasted out Torres leaving the former Champ dangling on the ropes after landing a wicked right hand.
Although there are “No Excuses” here, there is still
controversy as Torres appeared to be stunned by a gnarly
headbutt just before he was put out for the night.
Light welterweight Lamont Peterson TKO’d Rogelio Castaneda Jr after nine rounds.
Truth is Casteneda’s corner threw in the towel and he probably could have finished the bout on his feet. If this was supposed to be a breakout fight for Peterson it failed.
The
majority of the media in attendance agreed this
performance did little to solidify Peterson with the top
Light Welters.
Looks
like Super middleweight Josiah Judah may have the same
set of whiskers as his brother. In another bout that
didn’t last one round Don Mouton TKO’d Judah at the 1:42
mark. I don’t have to tell you that when Mouton went to
the Gorilla card and beat on his chest after the ref
jumped in and stopped it that I was as thrilled as can
be.
Surprise Surprise, another left handed featherweight
from The Philippines! That’s right, Manny’s countryman
Glenn Gonzales did his idol proud as he defeated Robert
DaLuz with a 6 round unanimous decision.
Bantamweight Michael Franco dumped Juan Javier Lagos in
the 5TH and then went on to take a clear cut unanimous
decision.
Super
bantamweight Ana Julaton & Johana Mendez fought to a six
round Draw in this female battle. No jokes about a tie
being just like kissing your sister! |
