I don't know who is writing Julio Cesar Chavez's material but this guy either needs to take his show on the road or better yet he should be auditioning for next season's Last Comic Standing.

When asked by Mexican news source ESTO what he thought about Oscar De La Hoya hinting that he would love to fight in Azteca Stadium in Mexico, Julio Sr. had more classic one liners than Late Night host Jay Leno.

When Chavez Sr. fought Greg Haugen in 1993 they put 136,000 fans in those seats and it is a record to this day. In regard to Oscar fighting at that same venue Chavez Sr. said, "If he wants to fill the seats like I did then you better tell him to fight my son, Julio Jr. He is the only fighter who can fill that stadium."

Reality check time!

The last time Julio Jr. fought in Mexico he was given a gift of a decision and was booed wildly by the crowd who came there to see him. In fact they began to throw beer bottles in his direction to show their displeasure. After that near riot Chavez Jr. went on record saying that if the fans didn't like him that he would quit.

Sorry but boxing fans in Mexico admire neither quitters and/or losers.

Chavez Sr. then went on to remark about Oscar commenting that Chavez Jr. was not yet ready for him. Chavez Sr. said, "That's what I said when Oscar wanted to fight me, he was not ready, but never the less I gave him the fight."

Trying to compare Julio Jr. at this stage of his career with the place De La Hoya was when he fought Chavez Sr. is beyond hilarious. By the time De La Hoya fought Chavez Sr. he was an Olympic Champion, he already had numerous World titles and he had defeated fighters the likes of Rafael Ruelas and Genaro Hernandez, they were true champions.

At the present time Chavez Jr. can lay claim to no "real" World title and he hasn't fought anyone of note, and no Grover Wiley does not count even though he did defeat Chavez Sr.

Chavez Sr.'s  next bit was to make excuses why he couldn't beat De La Hoya, "I was cut'" or "I was no longer hungry"...PLEASE!!

Chavez Sr. continued on his roll by spouting about how Oscar is picking on a little guy and how Pacquiao could never beat Oscar under any circumstance.

Saving the best for last Chavez Sr. stated, "The reason De La Hoya won't fight my son Julio is because he is scared. With the right preparation my son would Knockout De La Hoya, and I would bet 5 million dollars on it!"

Stop, you're killing me Senor!

Tell you what, let's see if Chavez Jr. can get by Matt Vanda in the rematch before we start thinking about Oscar & Azteca Stadium.

But please... don't let that stop you from the stand up comedy tour, you are a regular George Lopez.
